At Croft Junior School we have high expectations and strive for excellence in a caring, happy and safe environment where every child is valued. Our priority is to deliver high quality teaching and learning, whilst providing rich and enjoyable learning experiences. We are an inclusive school and we believe that every child can succeed; we strive to remove any barriers to learning, enabling all children to celebrate personal achievements.

We live life at Croft Junior School with three rules and six values guiding our choices.

Rules

The three school rules are Be Kind, Be Safe, Be Brilliant. These rules cover every aspect of school life and can relate to all we do, all we say and all we aspire to achieve.  They are simple, easy to remember and were agreed after discussions with all children and staff. 

Values

Our six school values are at the core of everything we do.

They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment which prepares our learners as confident, happy citizens. Our school values have been revised and updated with children discussing, debating and agreeing what is most important.

  • The practice of being honest – with everyone. 
  • Always keeping your word.
  • Showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. 
  • Doing the right thing by people. 
  • Honesty and truthfulness in your actions.

Integrity is a highly valued trait, especially in leaders. When you live with integrity, you’re more likely to be considered for important roles and leadership positions.

  • Being willing to take a risk.
  • Living with integrity and being truly honest. 
  • Standing up for what you believe in, even if it means you lose some friends. 
  • Overcoming challenges to be the best version of yourself.
  • Having mettle, a spirit and faith in the face of difficulties.

Courageous people take action in a way that is consistent with their values. The action required is not necessarily loud, but quiet and thoughtful.

  • Choosing to do something that helps others, or yourself. 
  • Being selfless, caring and compassionate. 
  • Helping others, whilst expecting nothing in return. 
  • Being present and giving others your full attention. 
  • Being pleased when others succeed or benefit. 

Kindness is the ability and desire to have a positive impact on others. 

  • A faithfulness that is steadfast in the face of temptation.
  • Dedication to a person, group or cause – always being dependable.
  • Giving your support even when times are hard.  
  • Being honest and never betraying others.  
  • Being completely trustworthy.  

With loyalty, you are never alone. Those who are loyal are reliable, even when it isn’t convenient. They inspire hope and are generous, expecting nothing in return. 

  • The ability to withstand adversity.
  • The determination to bounce back from difficult life events.
  • Taking a positive perspective on situations.
  • Viewing challenges as learning opportunities.
  • Controlling emotions and expressing feelings in appropriate ways.

Resilient people don’t blame others or outside forces for their problems. They cultivate a healthy sense of personal responsibility, which allows them to tackle problems head on instead of wallowing in despair.

  • A person’s belief in their ability to complete a task or goal.
  • Having the discipline and determination to sustain efforts towards a goal.
  • Being  positive in what you do.
  • Having confidence in your abilities or your judgements.
  • Knowing who you are and being proud of what you know.

Self belief is the ability to face uncertainty with curiosity and optimism. It is the belief that problems can be solved, differences resolved. It is a type of confidence. Self belief gives drive, dedication, and desire, but also,  confidence and faith.

British Values

In accordance with The Department for Education we aim to actively promote British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.

Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law.

  • Mutual respect and Tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs
