Year 3 Welcome Meeting

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Croft Junior School. We are delighted you are considering or have chosen Croft Junior School for your child. For children currently in Year 2, the first day of school new year will be Wednesday, 2 September 2026.

Key Dates for Visits

  • Open Day: 2026 TBC
  • Open Evening: 2026 TBC
  • Deadline for Applications: 15 January, 2027
  • Allocations Announced: 16 April, 2027
  • Welcome Meeting: Wednesday 30 April (17:30 to 18:30)
  • Moving Up Day: Wednesday 8 July (09:15 to 14:30)

In late June 2026 an email will be sent informing parents who the classteachers will be next year. This will help when children come into school on Wednesday 8 July 2026 for Moving Up Day.

Contact Form

A reminder that the contact form is there for any questions in case you do not see the classteacher. Simply select ‘teacher’ and your child’s class and ask the question, no matter how trivial – we will get back in touch.

Forest School

We have recently started Forest School activities. When your child is due to have a session, you should receive an email detailing when and any clothing required, such as wellington boots and spare socks. In time we plan to have enough to provide these for you.

Clubs

If your child attends a club, the staff member running the club will let you know (via email) where your child needs to go, any equipment if needed etc…

Front or Back Gates?

You decide which gate you wish to enter from, depending which is best for you. Children do not have to be walked to the playground/class but you are welcome to walk with them if you wish.

Snacks

Children may bring a piece of fruit or healthy snack to eat at break time.

Arrangements for Moving Up Day - Wednesday 8 July

Reminders:

  • Children should wear their infant school uniform.
  • If children require a school meal they will order this in class, or you can send in a packed lunch.
  • There will be no charge for a school meal due to infant children’s universal free school meal entitlement.
  • We may take photographs of the children during the day to be used internally.
  • If your child needs an inhaler or similar, bring it in labelled and hand it to the new class teacher.

Timings:

  • 09:00: Arrive and join us on the playground. By this time our current children will be in class, freeing up the playground for just your children, currently in Year 2.
  • 09:10: Year 3 staff (for September 2026) will come out and join you.
  • 09:15: Children to join a line with their teacher for September (signs will make this clear – you just need to remember either the name of the teacher or class). Classes will then enter the school with their class teacher.
  • 09:15: Parents shown where to collect the children from and drop-off location for September.
  • 09:20 to 09:50 Refreshments and informal chance to connect.
  • 14:25 Gates open to allow parents to enter and proceed to collection point.
  • 14:30: End of the day/children go home (current Year 2 and siblings if you wish – make sure you inform older siblings).
