Great British Bird Watch

22-24 January
Children at Croft Junior School have had the opportunity to take part in the Great British Bird Watch. They have taken part in a variety of activities including making bird feeders, spotting birds with binoculars and tallying the number of local birds on site. The children then shared the information with the RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds).
The children really enjoyed the various activities and learned lots of new facts about the various birds in the area. The children also learned to recognise the calls of various birds, otherwise known as the bird songs. The children actually recognised eight different types of bird, including the Pied Wagtail, the Great Tit, the Robin, Blackbird and Coal-Tit.
