Croft Junior School’s girls’ football team delivered a sterling performance at Tuesday’s seven-school tournament at Pingles Leisure Centre, emerging unbeaten with three victories and two draws.
The squad demonstrated remarkable resilience throughout the afternoon, epitomised by striker Libby’s fortunes. After the heartbreak of a missed penalty, she bounced back spectacularly, netting twice in her next outing to seal victory.
Debutant Robyn made an impressive first appearance for the team, whilst goalkeeper and defenders produced several crucial saves to preserve the unbeaten record. The forwards combined superbly, producing a succession of spectacular goals that drew admiration from spectators.
Coach Mr Powers praised the team’s exemplary attitude and sportsmanship throughout the competition. “The girls represented Croft Junior School magnificently,” he said. “Their determination and team spirit were exceptional.”
The unbeaten run marks an excellent event for the team to be proud of.
